Exceptional (D4) drought conditions improved to extreme (D3) drought conditions over most of Perkins County through the end of February. Over far eastern and far southwestern portions of the county, extreme (D3) drought conditions persisted through the end of the month.

Wider weather episode

Drought conditions improved some in February across the area. The greatest improvements occurred over portions of north central and southwestern Nebraska. In these locations, drought severity improved by one category in February. Elsewhere, drought conditions remained un-changed during the month.
