Event narrative

Observers reported 24-hour snowfall totals of 8 inches in Menominee, 10 inches in Spalding and 13 inches at Cedar River as schools were closed throughout the county on the 23rd. Northeast winds gusting near 35 mph at times also caused blowing and drifting of snow.

Wider weather episode

A deepening Plains low pressure system moving through Lower Michigan generated widespread moderate to heavy lake enhanced snow across much of west and central Upper Michigan from the afternoon of the 22nd into the 24nd.
