Thunderstorm winds blew a tree down on Thomas Jefferson Highway, approximately three miles south-southwest of Pamplin City. Damage values are estimated.

Wider weather episode

Thunderstorms developed in advance of an approaching cold front. Some of these increased to severe levels and produced very large hail, some stones up to tennis ball size, and also localized damaging wind gusts.
