Event narrative

Several SNOTEL stations including Thaynes Canyon, Brighton, and Snowbird recorded 1.3 to 2.7 inches of snow water equivalent, resulting in approximately 19 to 39 inches of snow. Snow observers at Solitude Mountain Resort and Alta Ski Area reported 26 and 34 inches respectively. Additionally, both Little Cottonwood Canyon and Big Cottonwood Canyon were closed for multiple hours for snow removal and avalanche mitigation.

Wider weather episode

An active month was capped off with another set of quick moving winter storms, bringing accumulating snow to many locations throughout Utah. Periods of high winds were also noted in some locations.
