A trained spotter estimated wind gusts associated with a thunderstorm were on the order of 50 to 60 mph.

Wider weather episode

A line of storms developed in the late afternoon and evening in western South Dakota. As they proceeded east, this line of storms produced an estimated 60 mph wind gust 3 miles west of Okaton before weakening.
