An observer near Ontonagon observed a light glaze of ice from freezing rain on tree twigs on the morning of the 5th.

A warm front lifting north from the Central Plains and Lower Great Lakes brought showers and thunderstorms across the area which turned to widespread freezing rain late from the 4th into the early morning of the 5th across west and central Upper Michigan.
