Extreme drought (D3) expanded across the northwest portion of county during the first part of April. Severe drought (D2) was found elsewhere.

Wider weather episode

Extreme (D3) to Exceptional (D4) drought conditions continued to worsen over the area during the month of April 2023. Continued below normal rainfall, led to the the extreme and exceptional drought conditions expanding over south central Kansas, by the end of the month.
