Wider weather episode

A cold front was approaching Kentucky during the day on April 5, 2023. A line of storms had developed ahead of the front, and quickly pushed eastward throughout the day. By the time it reached central Kentucky the line became weaker and more broken as it entered into the Jackson, KY WFO domain. However, some of the storms along the broken line remained strong, especially the one passing from Lexington eastward towards Montgomery County and Mount Sterling, where a couple instances of wind damage occurred. A few of these storms continued to show momentum as they moved through eastern Kentucky during the evening, and resulted in several strong outflows. The RAWS station at the Koomer Ridge Campground (KOMK2) measured a 53 mph wind gust as the outflow moved through around 7:30 PM EDT. The Kentucky Mesonet station in Morgan County (1 WNW of Index) then measured a 57 mph gust at 7:45 PM EDT.
