A peak wind gust of 62 MPH was measured by the automated weather station at the Montrose Regional Airport.
Wider weather episode
An upper level trough tracked across the Northern Rockies, dragging its base across the Western Slope. This resulted in increased instability which fueled scattered showers. Showers were high-based given the abundance of dry air at the lower levels. Strong outflow from collapsing showers produced gusty winds in excess of 58 mph across portions of Montrose County.
