Severe drought conditions rapidly developed across northwest Indiana during the middle of June, which was referred to as a flash drought. For the month of June, Valparaiso Airport measured 2.95 inches of rain, which was 0.91 inches below normal. Many creeks, streams and rivers were running well below their normal long term averages by the end of June.
