Thunderstorms winds blew down several trees in multiple locations around the community of Meadows of Dan.
Wider weather episode
A region of low pressure pushed a strong cold front eastward and lifted a warm front northward through the Mid Atlantic during May 16. More than sufficient instability and shear in the Virginia Southside resulted in a few rounds of discrete thunderstorms that organized into a quasi-linear structure, which resulted in areas of thunderstorm wind damage and hail.
