Near Glenville, a power pole and transformer were knocked down.

Preexisting hot and muggy conditions contributed to unsettled weather in West Virginia on both July 17th and 18th. Each afternoon observed strong to severe thunderstorms sprouting during peak heating hours, with damaging winds and a few instances of hails accompanying convection. Tree damage was the primary result of the passing storms, especially across portions of central and southern West Virginia.
