Event narrative

Numerous reports of trees down across Halifax County. Most of the damage reports came out of Enfield and the Scotland Neck area.

Wider weather episode

An advancing cold front along the Ohio and Tennessee valleys combined with a Piedmont trough over western North Carolina and a very moist atmosphere to produce widely isolated to scattered thunderstorms. A swath of severe thunderstorms developed over the northern Coastal Plain in Halifax County, producing damaging straight-line winds and downed trees.
