Fabens Mesonet site reported a peak gust of 63 mph.

Wider weather episode

An upper low was located over southern California with west to southwest flow aloft over the Borderland. A surface low was located along the Rio Grande Valley which brought southeast surface winds to the El Paso area and provided plenty of wind shear for severe storms to develop around the county.
