Event narrative
A swath of hail, up to the size of quarters, fell near U.S. Highway 60 from northwest of Buckingham to near Buckingham.
Wider weather episode
Strong cold front interacted with an abnormally moist airmass to cause severe thunderstorms to developed across Southside Virginia. Winds from these storms damaged numerous trees, utilities, several vehicles and outbuildings. Thousands of customers lost power due to the damage. There were also a few instances of large hail.
