Event narrative
A metal shed was blown off its foundation and into the side of a house by thunderstorm winds. Vinyl siding on the house as well as its HVAC unit were damaged. Several nearby trees were downed by thunderstorm winds.
Wider weather episode
Strong cold front interacted with an abnormally moist airmass to cause severe thunderstorms to developed across Southside Virginia. Winds from these storms damaged numerous trees, utilities, several vehicles and outbuildings. Thousands of customers lost power due to the damage. There were also a few instances of large hail.
