A fairly typical summertime regime was in place with abundant Gulf moisture throughout the atmosphere. As the day progressed, sea breeze boundaries became the focal point for thunderstorm initiation and ample instability enhanced intensity of a few storms. One storm in Assumption Parish was able to strengthen enough to produce severe hail.
