Local emergency manager reported a tree downed by thunderstorm winds near the intersection of Highway 24 and I-55.

Wider weather episode

A slow moving cold front sagged south into the region on June 12th. The combination of frontal lift, ample moisture, strong daytime heating, and dry air aloft provided the prime setup for severe winds across southwest Mississippi.
