The Texas Water Development Board Mesonet site in Sarita (TW100) in northern Kenedy County recorded heat indices reaching or exceeding 111 degrees between 2:00PM CDT and 4:00PM CDT the afternoon of August 18th.

Wider weather episode

The worst of the heat abated some by mid-August, but the coastal counties continued to experience several hours of Heat Advisory criteria August 18th and 19th.
