The Gogebic County Dispatch reported power lines down in Bessemer. Wind gusts at the Ironwood ASOS were measured at 50 mph, but were probably higher in Bessemer where wind damage occurred.

Wider weather episode

A cold front moving across a moist and unstable airmass generated severe thunderstorms over mainly the west half of Upper Michigan during the evening of the 27th.
