A Mesonet site recorded a wind gust of 65 mph.

Wider weather episode

An unusually strong upper level disturbance dropped southward from the northern Plains into western Missouri during the evening of the 30th and continued southward through the early morning of the 31st. Widespread wind gusts measured over 70 mph affected locations from Fort Scott to Lamar to South Springfield to Branson, resulting in widespread power outages from downed trees and powerlines. Some locations were without power for several days as a result of these storms.
