Event narrative
Hail the size of nickels to golf balls fell from north of Natrona to the south of Midwest, including along Interstate 25.
Wider weather episode
A shortwave moved across Wyoming. As it encountered more humid air east of the Bighorn Range, severe thunderstorms developed in Johnson and Natrona Counties. There were numerous reports of hail from nickel to golf ball size hail, including on Interstate 25 which slowed traffic for a time. In portions of Fremont and Sweetwater Counties, strong winds mixed to the surface and brought local high wind.
