Event narrative

Severe drought (D3) continued in the far northeastern portions of the county with exceptional drought (D4) in the remainder of the county to start July. Conditions in the far western part of the county improved to severe drought (D3) by the end of the month with no changes elsewhere.

Wider weather episode

Exceptional drought (D4) and severe drought (D3) continued across much of the region during the July. There was some beneficial rain in South Central Kansas which allowed several counties to improve significantly to where no drought conditions existed or improved to moderate drought (D2) by the end of the month.
