Event narrative
Thunderstorm winds peeled the steel roof off of a business on Highway VV about one and a half miles north of Hinton. Further east, just north northeast of Murry, a power pole was snapped off on Route Z.
Wider weather episode
A severe mesoscale convective system (MCS) moved through the forecast area during the afternoon hours producing widespread 60-70mph winds and associated damage. The complex moved to the southeast taking advantage of 3500-4500 J/kg of surface-based CAPE.
