An Effingham County emergency manager reported a tree fell onto police car near the intersection of Midland Road and Highway 17. The police officer transported to hospital with minor injuries.

The combination of warm and moist conditions occurring ahead of a cold front approaching from the west along with forcing associated with a sea breeze circulation shifting inland led to strong thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds across southeast Georgia.
