RSOIS equipment at WFO Great Falls measured two wind gusts of 58 mph or greater, including a 62 mph peak gust.
Wider weather episode
A potent mid level low tracked eastward near the Canadian border during October 16. The combination of strong westerly flow aloft and a surface low in SK producing a strong pressure gradient resulted in high winds across much of North-central Montana as well as portions of Central Montana.
