Early on the 29th, a moist and shallow arctic air mass moved into the West Texas region. Areas of freezing drizzle developed in the post frontal air mass with a dry middle and upper atmosphere. Icing from freezing drizzle resulted in multiple traffic accidents along Interstate 27 on overpasses in Swisher County.
