Wider weather episode
A cold front pushed across north Mississippi during the late afternoon and early evening hours on September 6, 2023. Thunderstorms initially developed along and south of Interstate 40 as the airmass became unstable and wind shear aloft increased due
to a mid-level jet maximum approaching the region. Thunderstorms became more numerous as the front pushed into north Mississippi, eventually forming a line with several reports of damaging wind and a few occurrences of large hail.
