Wider weather episode

A cluster of thunderstorms shifted from Southern Arkansas into Northern Louisiana on September 7th, advancing along a weak cold front situated near the Arkansas/Louisiana state line. Near the surface cold front, temperatures surged into the mid and upper 90s, with dewpoints near 70F, yielding moderate MLCAPE values of 2000-2500 J/kg. Given the moist environment, there was an increasing potential from damaging gusts due to strong downdrafts. In addition, the modest deep-layer shear resulted in thunderstorm clustering, and these clusters were the preferred locations for isolated large hail and damaging wind gusts with a few damage reports from Bienville and Red River Parishes.
