Event narrative

Drought conditions that developed during the summer continued into the fall. At the beginning of the month, Severe Drought (D2) conditions prevailed around the Sturgeon Bay area with Moderate Drought (D1) over the remainder of the county. Rainfall totals over the first half of October were under an inch at Sturgeon Bay. The dry weather resulted in the entire county being classified in Severe Drought (D2) on the 17th. Thunderstorms brought 2 to 4 inches of rain between the 24th and 27th, which resulted in improving drought conditions over the last week of October. On the October 31st U.S. Drought Monitor, Severe Drought (D2) conditions no longer existed across Door County; with Moderate Drought (D1) conditions north of Sturgeon Bay and Abnormally Dry (D0) conditions from Sturgeon Bay on southward.

Drought conditions that developed during the summer continued into the fall. At the beginning of the month, Severe Drought (D2) was reported around the Sturgeon Bay area. Dry weather over the first half of October brought worsening drought conditions. Severe Drought (D2) expanded to cover the entire county on the 17th. Rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches between the 24th and 27th brought improving drought conditions. By the 31st, Severe Drought (D2) conditions no longer existed across the county with Moderate Drought (D1) lingering north of Sturgeon Bay going into November.
