Severe (D2) drought conditions developed by mid-October and continued through the end of the month.

Wider weather episode

Severe (D2) drought conditions expanded across north Mississippi by mid-October as below-normal rainfall and warmer-than-normal temperatures persisted. By the end of the month, the extreme (D3) drought conditions had developed across most of north Mississippi. Lake and river levels continued to be at low levels as a result of the drought. Pastures were negatively impacted.
