Event narrative

Generally 16 to 20 inches of snow fell over the La Sal mountains and 6 to 9 inches fell over the Abajo mountains with around 2 inches over the lower elevations at Monticello. Winds less than 45 mph.

Wider weather episode

A closed low pressure system pushed across eastern Utah into southern Colorado, bringing moderate to heavy snowfall to the eastern Utah mountains and central and southern mountains of western Colorado, impacting post-Thanksgiving travel. Heavy snow bands resulted in localized areas of heavier snowfall across the southern valleys and mountains as well as valleys of northwest Colorado. Winds gusted above 45 mph in the San Juans with a peak of 67 mph.
