Event narrative

Ongoing abnormally dry conditions, consisting of 12 consecutive weeks of at least severe drought (D2), relinquished in Taylor County by the end of October. Multiple storms provided as much as 4 inches above normal monthly rainfall totals, relieving the up to 4 inch rainfall deficit from initial drought issuance on July 11th to the start of October. As a result, severe drought (D2) abated in Taylor County.

Wider weather episode

Long-standing abnormally dry conditions, comprised of 2 to 8 inches below normal rainfall from June through September, improved in central Wisconsin through October. The improving conditions were due to multiple storms providing up to 4 inches above normal monthly rainfall totals. As a result, severe drought (D2) weakened to moderate drought (D1) by the end of October in parts of central Wisconsin.
