Event narrative
There was a social media report of between 19 and 24 inches of snowfall in Melstrand over a 39-hour period. Other reports over Alger County during the same period included 10 inches at 11 miles south of Grand Marais, 6.5 inches in Chatham and around 5-6 inches in the Munising and Wetmore area. Northwest winds gusting between 25 and 30 mph also caused occasional whiteout conditions in blowing snow.

Lake effect snow in the wake of a cold front produced moderate to heavy snow accumulation over the northwest wind snow belts of west and north central Upper Michigan from the evening of the 26th into the 28th.
