Observer snowfall reports over a 48-hour period included 9.4 inches at Painesdale and 8 inches at Chassell. Northwest winds gusting near 40 mph also caused near whiteout conditions in blowing snow during the event.

Wider weather episode

Lake effect snow in the wake of a cold front produced moderate to heavy snow accumulation over the northwest wind snow belts of west and north central Upper Michigan from the evening of the 26th into the 28th.
