Light freezing rain accumulations followed by a period of sub-freezing temperatures resulted in numerous hazardous roads and traffic accidents. Interstate 22 was temporarily closed due to road conditions and accidents.

Moisture associated with an arctic airmass moved across northwest parts of Central Alabama from January 15 into January 16. A wintry mix of freezing rain, sleet, and snow moved across the area, with accumulations totaling up to 2 inches across Marion and Winston counties.
