A compact system crossing from west to east generated an approximately 100 mile wide band of snow across central and northeast South Dakota. Peak snowfall amounts include 7.9 inches 3 miles north northeast of Gann Valley, 7 inches 7 miles east of Hayes and in the city of Miller, 6.5 inches in both Hayti and 8 miles north of Vivian, and 6 inches in both Kennebec and 9 miles east of Grey Goose. Icy roads were responsible for several vehicle accidents including one direct fatality.
