Across Petroleum County, measured snowfall amounts ranged from 2.0 to 6.5 inches. The greatest amount of 6.5 inches was reported by a trained spotter 14S Winnett.

Wider weather episode

A broad trough pushed across the Intermountain West, as a storm system rode up along the trough into northeast Montana. The precipitation began as a mix due to existing warmer than normal air over the region, before eventually changing over to snow as the event progressed.
