An arctic airmass slid into the Ozarks during the overnight hours of January 13-14 bringing extreme cold and windchills in the -20 to -25 degree range across most of the region.
Wider weather episode
An anomalously cold airmass moved into far southeastern Kansas on January 13th bringing high temperatures around zero degrees with wind chills in -20 to -25 degree range for some locations. As precipitation overspread the cold air in place over the region on the 14th, accumulating snow fell across much of southern Missouri. Multiple snow amounts from a trace to 1 inch occurred across the area. Roads became partially to completely snow covered and slippery. Schools were closed due to winter weather.
