Locally strong winds developed in the favored areas around the Sisseton hills during the overnight hours of Saturday, January 20th and the morning hours Sunday, January 21st. A peak wind gust of 65mph was observed at the DOT station 4 miles north of Altamont, while the DOT station in Summit gusted to 59mph. Additional wind gusts of 40 to 55mph were observed across much of northeast South Dakota.
