Wider weather episode
A powerful storm impacted the region with damaging winds, first for downsloping areas, then widespread across most of the Buffalo County Warning Area. Behind the passing cold front, strong winds continued as rain changed to snow, eventually becoming lake enhanced and then lake effect. Lake effect snow became heavier later Saturday evening causing brief periods of near blizzard conditions. Winds weakened through the middle of the weekend as heavy lake effect snow lingered into Monday morning. The cold air mass behind the passing front resulted in the coldest temperatures of the winter.
