Event narrative
Nearly all of the eastern half of South Central Texas had above normal precipitation in January with large swaths of the I-35 corridor and Coastal Plains seeing three and four times normal rainfall. Drought conditions improved. Bexar, Comal, Hays, and Travis Counties all improved from Extreme (D3) drought to less than Severe (D2). Atascosa, Bastrop, Burnet, Caldwell, Gonzales, Karnes, Llano, and Wilson all improved from D2 to less than D2.
