Bitter cold wind chills between 25 to 34 below zero were reported across portions of Gogebic County. Schools were either closed or delayed on the 16th to the effects of the cold.

Bitter cold Arctic air funneling into the area on the backside of a low stationed over southern Hudson Bay resulted in dangerously cold wind chills across porttions of Upper Michigan from late evening on the 15th into the morning of the 16th.
