Wider weather episode
A broad upper trough, centered near the Four Corners, began to approach the region during the evening of the 7th. Scattered thunderstorm development occurred ahead of a dryline positioned near the 100th meridian. Given sufficient instability and deep-layer wind shear, a few organized (supercell) thunderstorms developed. A few reports of large hail were received across western-north Texas associated with these storms.
