Ski resorts reported snow amounts of 15 to 30 inches from February 1st through February 2nd. UC Berkeley Central Sierra Snow Lab reported 14.6 inches of snow over the same timeframe. The National Operational Hydrologic Remote Sensing Center estimated 10 to 30 inches of snow as well.

Wider weather episode

A winter storm that started at the end of January carried over into early February, bringing continued moderate to heavy rain and mountain snow, thunderstorms, and gusty winds. Periods of chain controls were observed in the mountains.
