Event narrative
Widespread roadway flooding occurred in the tidal communities of Monmouth County. Water entered vulnerable buildings causing some damage. The tide gauge at Sandy Hook reached 7.70 feet MLLW, the tide gauge at Sea Bright reached 7.13 feet MLLW and the tide gauge at Belmar reached 6.90 feet.
Wider weather episode
Strong onshore flow with a potent storm moving up the NJ/Delaware coast resulted in water piling up along the New Jersey coast and within the back bays. Water also moved up the Delaware Bay, which also resulted in tidal flooding within the Delaware River.
