Event narrative

A few trees were blown down by high winds. One of the fallen trees caused minor damage to a car. A personal weather station in Foscoe, NC measured a maximum wind gust of 65 MPH.

Wider weather episode

A frontal system intensified as it moved from the southern Mississippi River Valley into the Carolinas and southwestern Virginia. Behind this front was an exceptional pressure gradient that created wind gusts as high as 65 MPH in northwest NC starting the early morning of February 13 and continuing into the early afternoon. Damage to trees was enhanced due to a saturated ground from recent rainfall.
