Observer lake effect snowfall reports varied from 6 to 11 inches in the Ironwood area over an approximate 36-hour period. Northwest winds gusting near 25 mph also caused areas of blowing snow.

Blustery northwest winds and Arctic air flooding over the area in the wake of a cold frontal passage generated moderate lake effect snowfall accumulation and blowing snow in the northwest wind snow belts downwind of Lake Superior from the evening of the 16th into the morning of the 18th.
