The Munising observer measured 5 inches of lake effect snow in 24 hours. North winds gusting as high as 35 mph also caused areas of blowing snow and lowered visibility.

Blustery northwest winds and Arctic air flooding over the area in the wake of a cold frontal passage generated moderate lake effect snowfall accumulation and blowing snow in the northwest wind snow belts downwind of Lake Superior from the evening of the 16th into the morning of the 18th.
