Frost/Freeze — Carlisle, Kentucky
2024-04-06 · Carlisle, Kentucky
Wider weather episode
Freezing temperatures were observed over most of western Kentucky during the early morning hours on the 6th. The lowest temperature recorded was 28 degrees in Henderson county. Temperatures were more variable near the freezing mark in the Kentucky Purchase region, but surface conditions were still favorable for frost formation. An area of high pressure allowed for mostly clear skies and calm winds. Any unprotected crops, vegetation, shrubs, and trees were late enough in the growing season to be impacted by the freezing temperatures and frost. Communities had also began turning on outdoor sprinkler irrigation systems for the warm season.
